The Core Duo E6000 processor utilizing a brand-new Conroe core will be released together with FSB1066, DDR2-800 memory and clock frequencies up to 2.66 GHz apart from architectural improvements.
Surely one should remember that AOpen has never positioned the i975Xa-YDG for high-end solutions. It is merely an alternative for users who seek the best performance per watt as compared to current desktop platform from Intel. From this point of view the new AOpen desktop motherboard for Core Duo performs well since the power consumption is almost halved! Just imagine such solution in a compact form factor. A good PC for a ‘digital home’, isn’t it?
Other manufacturers, like Asus, plan to release their own motherboards for desktop PC on the basis of Core Duo. It would be interesting to see how scalable Core Duo performance is in overclocking mode. Driver page for aopen mainboard.
